Living in Utah has made me realize just how much I miss being near Louisiana!

This time of year, is crawfish season. When we lived in east Texas, got used to just heading down the street and ordering 3 or 4 pounds of crawfish for like $35 (give or take).

Here in Utah, crawfish are hard to find. I could order them online and have a boil in my back yard. But what a hassle. I want to eat crawfish. I don’t want to cook crawfish.

I found a place, in Layton, Utah, called Hook & Reel. They advertised that they have crawfish. I decided to give ‘em a try. I ordered the crab and crawfish boil with red potatoes and corn on the cob. (They don’t have an “only crawfish” boil on the menu). I got 1/2 a pound of crab and 6 crawfish. Not six pounds. Not even one pound. SIX CRAWFISH!

Also, they didn’t use Cajun crawfish seasoning. Nope, they gave me Old Bay. I like Old Bay well enough but, it ain’t Cajon crawfish seasoning!

I had a beer too. Just one.

My wife doesn’t eat a lot of seafood. She had a burger and a drink.

Out the door total: $86

What a rip off.

I should have drove 15 hours to Louisiana and got 4 pounds of awesome fresh crawfish. That would have totally been worth the trip!
